Galvanized or stainless steel? This is the best choice for your application.
Material properties and differences
The technical terms “galvanized steel” and “stainless steel” are commonly used in industry product descriptions. Alternatively, these are expressed by the endings – AGV and -BP. A look at the properties of both materials provides information on areas of application and advantages.
The particularly resistant stainless steel is often used in shipbuilding or in the food industry and for applications that are exposed to external environmental influences.
For items with the suffix -AGV, a corrosion protection layer is applied, galvanized, free of chromium-6 (CrVI-free). These fasteners are often installed in the interior. Both materials can be used in corrosive environments. Stainless steel is generally more expensive to purchase than galvanized steel. If you have any questions about the fastening technology for your industrial application, we can provide you with detailed information about material properties and suitable fastening systems.
